I currently have a 2000 classic but no external or internal storage. I could spend the money on it and "upgrade" it to become more functional.......or for not too much cash, get a second hand 2500?

I am frustrated with not being able to save work and really the zip disks are too difficult to get now...

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Even if you get the zips, you still have to use them

Personally I wouldn't bother modding or adding external storage to a 2000, they only trade for $200-$350 anyway. It's not like you're dropping a 60/3000 for a 2500, so the 2500 sounding a bit cleaner than the 2000 is no biggie. I doubt you'd regret a 2500, the 128MB sample RAM and CF cards vs. Floppies/Zips will be hugely liberating. The 2500's control surface feels like a more modern 2000XL, which you'd probably like. You should be able to find one for as low as $700-$750 USD with 128MB, if you look hard and are patient if you go the eBay route.

yeah the 2000 kinda sucks for storage, okay a scsi hard drive works and is probably the cheapest option cause I wouldn't dish out for a cf reader unless it was a 3000.

that being said, I said **** it and bought a box of floppies (a box of 10 packs) which is fine if your drive is in good shape like mine.

Thanks for you replies.

It's been difficult learning the 2000 without being able to save work. Makes you not want to use it that much.

I think you guys are right, time to bite the bullet and cough up for the 2500. May get my 2000 repaired and get an external scsi drive for it, then sell it and get what I can.

Might have been one of those times when you should have kept part of your thoughts to yourself...

Take the LCD out of the 2000. Sell the screen for the stupid money they're asking for them & buy a 2500 and a small car and some booze with the cash.
