Refrubishing the mpc 2000xl

wassup everyone?,
I want to get my 2000xl back to as close to mint condition as i can get it. i have no major problems with it except my LCD screen is starting to go. however, over the years I have upgraded the disc drive and added an 8 out expansion. I thought about getting an eb16, but i probably wont need it. I checked out the VST site and was thinking of shipping the unit out there. Has anyone dealt with them? Do they refurb Mp's or simply repair specific problems? I guess Im looking to get my mp "detailed" in a sense. Some of my knobs and buttons are a bit tempermental, the casing is not fully aligned etc.
Any feedback would be helpful.

just repaired my mpc

replaced buttons
repaired audio problems

if you can solder you can do the buttons and dials yourself
bought a pack of buttons for £2 for 20

but if the lcd is going dark or light the bulb or inverter might be faulty
inverter can be replaced its next to power supply

an inverter turns dc in ac which powers the bulb
i dont no about the lcd bulb you might be able to replace it as its 240 volts
just like a laptop screen bulb but different size

lcd is expensive so might be better to get a quote before sending item
as i expect the company charges for just looking at the item and dont forget
shipping cost and import duty .

the only company i can find who repair mpc's are in america so good luck !!!!

Thanks for the response..im getting lines in my lcd screen an many of the words are not legible now. I know it may cost almost 250 for a replacement screen. If i pay that much, i figured i would just refurb it so that its as close to new as possible....even if i move up to a 2500, im sure ill miss ol faithful

I have the 2500, but like having a 2000XL around. I was in the exact situation with a near mint one, but my LCD was lined. I was about to spend $250 on the refurb trade in at either VST or MPCStuff. Instead I got another even mintier XL for $375, and put the best components together. (the 2nd one still had texture on the buttons!)

There's a thread here where some guys are working on a replacement LCD they hope to sell at about $160. They seem a little off schedule, but they already showed demo screens. It seems worth waiting for.
