Hello,
I'm a newbye, just bought a used MPC 1000.

I'm experiencing this problem: I go record up to 16 samples, then from 17th on the first sample begins to disappear, and so on, one by one, starting from no. 1. Ain't it weird?
I would expect it to play up to 64 samples in the same sequence, virtually.
Am I missing anything here?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Actually its a 32 polyphonic machine. I'm guessing that you sampled everything in stereo which is double the sample time, so 32 divided by 2 is 16. Try to put some samples in mono to achieve the full polyphonic capacity of 32 samples at the same time.

thanks Ill-Green. I'll try bouncing back files that aren't really stereo in mono - which is actually a shame though, since they all have a specific location in the stereophony. Do you think I can manage this on the MPC mixer, once I've taken notes of original pannings?
Anyway I'll let you know if it works.

Your welcome, just try to record samples that don't need to be in stereo and that should free up some polyphony. Of course, you can record in mono and pan the samples within the MPC to create a stereo sound when you track out later.

I like to study the source I sample and sometimes I find the bassline on the right channel and the guitar riff on the left channel, so I sample one channel at a time in mono so the channels don't mix. I end up with the bass on pad 1 and guitar on pad 2, and if I want to restore its stereo qualities, I just pan them accordingly within the MPC and still got 30 more polyphony to work with.

Hey Ill-Green,
I eventually managed to fit all of the samples within a sequence (basically I merged some percs and additional sounds that interplayed on opposite pannings in individual stereo tracks - this way reaching an amount of 15 stereo tracks).
Hope it works.

May I ask you another question?
I loaded a few samples I wanna play outside the sequences, they're longer than the sequence. It plays them just til the end of the sequence loop and then stops. I wasn't able to change that. Can you help on this?
Thanks again! :)

These are the parameters:
Voice overlap: POLY
Mute group: OFF
Mute target: OFF OFF OFF OFF
(The samples are all oneshot)

It should work but it doesn't:
in the first seq the samples play til the end of the second loop now (for some reason);
in new seqs, they play til the end of the first loop.
I'm using the JJOS3.12 - perhaps there's a bug there? :(

Ah, sorry, I thought you was on the Akai OS. I'm aware of JJ and its features but I can't help you there. Hopefully someone can chime in. You should ask this question in the 1000/2500 JJOS subforum below and maybe someone can help you there. Sorry.
