Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

My MPC 2000 XL was purchased off of Craigslist and originally had OS 1.20 installed. I was working on a beat the other night when it crashed out of nowhere displaying a full screen of random numbers asterisk and random letter sequences. This has happened before a few times so I figured it was an OS issue. Upon visiting Akaipro.com I discovered that there were two current OSs for my MPC. 1.14 for floppy and zip drive. 1.20 for MCD drive. So I just figured that the reason it would crash was due to the wrong OS being installed. So I DL 1.14 to smart phone then transfer it to my zip disc via computer. So I insert the zip then install 1.14. It works fine so I go to sleep. I wake up today just to realize that my MPC turns on but wont read zip disc. Its can read Floppy, F-ROM and SCSI. Can someone please help me with atleast getting started with the trouble shooting process! Thanks a lot in advance!

that is odd... it should work with the IDE/atapi zip drive on 1.14... well maybe try to install it again.

also I highly suggest you open her up and make sure all ribbon cables are well connected as it's quite common for them to come a bit loose over time due to expansion and contraction as well as vibration etc...

do you have the floppy drive still or any scsi devices?

Came with zip drive and never changed it. Also I would load the OS again but it doesn't seem to be reading zip disk anymore. Ill try reseating the connections just in case
Thanks for the consideration time and help.
