Question for you MPC 4000 heads

Question for you MPC 4000 heads. How the hell do i connect this thing to my damn computer? extremely lost with this aksyso thing. I downloaded a driver from akaipro.com (aksysosxv261) and really doesnt seem to do much or i just dont know what to do with.

Would really appreciate some help, just where i should start. I have a bunch of wave samples i would love to just directly put into the 4000.

What version of windows are you running? are you able to open and access AKsys, and if all else fails, load the wav. to a flash drive and insert it into the usb slot on the FRONT of your mpc and load them from there

im on a mac... osx ver 10.6.4... is that my problem right there

not sure about mac since i run pc honestly

Mac 10.6.4 should be fine. I used 10.6.8 no problems. Make sure you drag the wav files over the mpc icon with Aksys if you got it open and that you have a usb be cable connected to the back of the 4k not the front.

thanks USB drive seems to work fine, One other question i would have is if im sampling from vinyl the ground wire is confusing me, so im using a stanton T.62 running that thru RCA BBE phono amp and then out of the phono amp into the MPC 4000.. where do i connect the ground wire? do i do it from the pre amp to the MPC? from the turntable to the MPC?

you don't need the phone amp, just plug the stanton directly into the phono connection on the mpc, and attach the ground wire to the screw with star like teeth that sits right next to the left and right phone jacks

It's awesome, that it's this easy to connect a 1210, always has a nice sound quality

And you can have 4 different fx on the input.Exciter and digital eq help refine the sound.

Ok-maybe only 2 fx on the input

I have Mac on snow leopard as well, don't upgrade to lion, it won't work with aksys. Here's what I do:

Make sure you have your folder ready to drag and drop
Connect the mpc to the computer before opening aksys
When it's open, drag the folder on top of "mpc 4000", let it transfer
Close aksys
Done

It's simple but you have to do it in order or aksys will freeze, also, if transferring more than one folder you might as well close aksys after every folder and repeat the process because it's going to crash otherwise. Hope this helped.
