Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hello again Guys and Gals,

Its been a week now with my MPC and I really see what the fuss is about, Its pretty dope.

Apart from the fact that I think my unit took some damage when in transit (Even though it was flightcased!)

Basically the Note Variation Slider is busted and needs replacing, Its bent up and grinds along and doesnt change any values, And it also seems that the 16 levels, Next Seq and Track Mute buttons have given up the ghost also.. (I press them and NOTHING happens)

So what can I do, Can I replace the slider myself? Where do I find a spare one.. Help, I'm addicted to this thing and need it to work 100%

Cheers,

Luke.

I replaced my slider after mine came with it broken. It's quite easy if your used to soldering but be careful not to be too heavy handed with the soldering iron as the pcb pads which you solder to are very sensitive to too much heat and end up coming away from the PCB.

I did mine and discovered some idiot before me had done just this and i had to wire it in manually as the solder pads were destroyed. HAd to just trace where the tracks go to and solder a wire to the next available pad.

Best of luck

The first time I ever soldered anything in my life was to fix this stupid note variation slider. I'm also in the Detroit area, so if you need some buttons or parts, I might have some stuff sitting around, i buy broken mp's to fix and then sell them on craigslist around here so hit me up if you need to.

Instead of starting a new topic I'll add to this one: What part number would I order if I need to get this from Mouser in USA? Is there a service manual available that includes the parts list so I can simply look at the parts list and pick out what to order that is needing replacing? Thanks a bunch.. Things are moving along on my MPC.. as I replace a part (such as the card reader) I am finding other parts that need replacing (such as tactile switches and possibly the note variation slider).
