How to make "House" music thread !!!!!!?????.

Computer music have a issue out with how to make house in it.

Like coz said i want heavy compressed sound ,this is what ive been aiming for.........

i've kinda got the drms sorted now and found ways of getting all the hits audible.

Its just the synth and bass line formula's and stuff,ive been brainstorming but can't nail anything

surely someone must have help other than video's as i dont wanna copy if that makes sense

can you be more specific - is it in relation to the sounds, patterns or production techniques????

House is more about good melodies and boomin' bassdrums. You can sample anything, as said before, its about the feeling and how you compose those sounds into the drum to give it that hipnotic effect.

I was a big House head (next to Hip Hop) in the 90's. Used to buy a new mixtape every Friday, the music use to keep my feet moving when on missions for acid and weed. But I don't think your style is House, more like a cross between Punk and Techno. Maybe Nine Inch Nails on the lightside.

hey cosmic....house music IMHO needs good dance beat first otherwise, can be be a bit flat....I mean house is for dancing, so take it from that angle, make stuff that gets you and ya boyfriends dancing But maybe start the music from the chords first, then bassline over drums which can be what ever as long as it goes boomchikkaboomchikka.
Starting from the chords was wierd for me at first as i work other way round but this kinda thing its the best method. CHords I VI VII are usual for trance... house has no rules but these modal changes are good. Then lotsa filter sweeps for the wooshes, cos no one does snare rolls anymore, thats so 1990s. O and do what i dont do enough of and keep drums progressing.If ya drum a bit or are into beats you will know how natural beat progressions and how they reolve.
Then you can start on production. Classic french house duck bassline with compressor side chain. So find software version with sidechain input to feed different signals to controll compressor response. ie compress bass line and use kick to feedside chain to get it to cut through. i never use it much as i should but patching hardware can be time consuming specially if its a different patch for every track i do. I am gonna get a DBX and set it up to do this all the time. that will make 3 hardware compressors and i still want more cos they are usefull

Always good to see some house heads up here. I got hooked on it back in the late '80s. A few years later, I was on a mission to start buying gear and produce house and techno. By the time the '90s came along, I knew I had to make some sacrifices and stay home a few weekends here and there to start saving up for some gear. To this day, I still enjoy making house music, and the MPC always gives that extra bang that I like for those beats. Making house on just an MPC alone without any other hardware is always a rewarding experience as well.

im gonna go out of the popular consensus here and say that french sound is NOT about the sidechain as much as just the compression itself. there's really no need to sidechain if you mix yer signals right coming into the compressor. a 3630 on the master bus is kind of amazing when you realise 'oh thats how that works'.

for sure you gear head. like the low end theory Pultec EQ and a dbx 160 right.
