Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By mechizadek Tue Aug 16, 2011 12:41 am
Going to burning man in 100+ degree weather and sand and dust, wondering if trying to bomb proof and saran wrap everything still a deathwish for my MPC? I wanna build it up and protect it but it is looking to be some real tough conditions.... Any thoughts or protect advice would be much appreciated..

(my 2000xl's my baby)

Quite frankly...yes. Aside from the elements possibly damaging it, and having to keep it from being stolen, how much work do you think you'll get done?

Are you taking it to "jam" with folks? I'd take something else...

Do u have a good reason for bringing it? Will your camp even have electric? I'm bringing a bunch of gear this year, but only because I have shows booked out there.

Bad idea.

Take a 202 or 303 or something with some of your MPC seq's sampled.

Take a tape with your beats recorded on it.

Take an ipod with your stuff on it.

But please don't take your baby out into the unforgiving elements.

Yup time for me to get the dust out of my gear,,, my stuff is FILTHY :?

I played the frontage at Kostume Kult (8:30 & Esplanade), and the Nautilus art car, which was challenging but **** amazing. I was also supposed to play the Modulus (giant snail car) but they had some issues at the dmv.

Ah, I was camped fairly close to there (9:30 & B). Did you make it down to Rapper's Delight at all? I was only there in the daytime, when there didn't seem to be much going on. If I hadn't lost my bike almost immediately, I might have gone to check it out at night. Definitely needed a break from the dubstep! All in all, a good first experience and I hope to be back next year.

Nope didn't hit Rapper's Delight,,, didn't even know it was happening! My camp is heavy into the electronic scene so thats pretty much what I play out there, and how I get down when I'm not playing. 8) But I hear what you're saying,, there was this ridiculously thumping art car that kept blasting some golden era hip-hop,,,, Fugees, Onyx, Queen Latifah!! It would sometimes drive by and snap me out of the goofy dance music shiit, and remind me where I come from
