How many of you use a studio subwoofer?

I just got my KRK K10S subwoofer in the mail and it BUMPSSS.. I feel like its really going to make my bottom end mixing much better. I was skeptical about getting a sub for a long time because I've always felt like it would make my mixes too bottom heavy but Im really happy with this KRK subwoofer. Im using it with my KRK Rokit 6s so the bass compliments the monitors great. How many of you guys use studio subwoofers and do you guys like it better with or without a sub?

if you dont got at least 8" subwoofer monitors, you really cant tell what's going on with low bottom end...dopedee and his crew got that subwoofer at the studio and it rocks the house

I got the KRK 8's in a relatively small room, but I agree, with anything smaller I'd want and need a sub. I live alone, so I might put my DAW back in my living room. If I do that I might get that same subwoofer.

I had 5" woofers and I had to use a sub...now that I have 8" woofers it doesn't seem to make much difference if I have the sub on or not.

you don't have to keep the sub on all the time.


make your mixes work without a sub and turn the sub on to mix the low-end & blast your beats after you're done mixing them.

I use these 40watt Sony bookshelf speakers. Really good speakers, I can hear all the detail and adjust accordingly. Made SWP with those.

Really don't know, I'll have to dig through my Amazon history for I bought them 2 years ago. But I bought them off a seller that was upgrading to Adam monitors. He swore by its quality and accuracy but wanted pro monitors to impress his clients. I took his word for it and never regretted the purchase which was $45 at the time. They bump pretty good too.

EDIT : Yup, they are the Sony SS B1000. Maybe shitty speakers to some but those are the same people that said my Shure RS230 mic was shitty, but the vocals on Swamp are uncanny.

I decided to use some computer speaker systems sub woofer as i had an extra out on mixer....I use ported monitors with a bass response down to about 140Hz so needed a sub. found that sub placed in correct place opened up the bottom end alot and is smooth, i mean, i dont notice it, just notice there is more phatness, untill i turn it up.i dont need high volume and my neighbours are probably thankfull i do not have a few hundred watt bassbin, though i do have another dj monitor rig with 200 watt power amp and 200 watt 3ways with 12" (actually not sure cant find tape measure maybe a bit bigger) so can turn it on sometimes to get an idea but couldnt work with them on all the time....So yeah ya need a sub to compliment monitors if you need the full freq spectrum, and we do.

Bought on Wednesday. Sold by Friday......

Right in Ill-Green!!! and no fukin way...3-4 months ago I went to frys to pick up 3 pairs of these to use for my surround sound but they didnt have that many many in stock...next chance I get I'll be picking them up for sure!!!
