Yes it does.
In essence they're quite similar, but Ableton has two method's of working in one. The first is a more traditional track based look, where you can track things out etc... just like in Pro Tools or whatever, a more traditional DAW method.
The second is quite similar to the MPC, and looks more like a traditional tracker, and is based on "clips" and "scenes". Clips being made up of audio files/loops/rex files/midi data etc... and scenes are what a sequence is in the MPC essentially. The nice thing about Ableton is that it keeps everything in time so it really does give you the option to use it live, or very quickly throw up a few different versions of a tune by being able to re-sequence it so quickly.
