Ensoniq EPS 16+ and MPC workflow

I'm gonna buy an EPS 16+ soon, to use with my MPC 2000. I think I will use the EPS for drums, bass and maybe some other samples(it only has 1Mb of memory) and use the MPC for sequencing and for the big samples.

I was wondering about the workflow of this set-up, cause I only got a DJ mixer, and no real mixer, so I'm having trouble figuring all the connections.
Anyone has a similar set-up? How do you connect everything? Thanks!

midi out of the eps to the mpc midi in - now you can record sequences into the mpc (or trigger mpc sounds).
midi out of the mpc to midi in on the eps - now you can play those sequences back to the eps (or the mpc internally).

audio out of the mpc to input 1 on your dj mixer - now you can hear the mpc
audio out of the eps to input 2 on your dj mixer - now you can hear the eps

now you can cut between the two.

what mixer is your mixer / how many inputs is it? if it's only 2, things are going to get tricky when you want to start sampling. You could plug the output of the mixer back into the eps or mpc (you will probably have to physically move this back and forth to each machine, unless your mixer has multiple outs/sends), but you better be REALLY careful not to introduce a feedback loop - if the mixer out is plugged into the mpc for sampling, turn the mpc channel all the way down and monitor it via headphones (same for eps if you are using that).
if your mixer has sends, that would be ideal....set one up as a 'to sampler' send.

sampling and editing samples on the eps is a totally different world than on the mpc, so get ready to put in a lot of work.

My mixer is a Numark M2, it has 4 ins and 2 outs. For the moment, 1 in is available so I will plug the EPS into it, but I don't have any outs available, so I guess I'll have to switch the cable, either I'm sampling on the MPC or the EPS.

Or probs end up ditching the 2000 once you work out how great the EPS is lol

It might have the mem expansion, you never know... Dude who sold it to me said it didn't have it but when I got it she had 2MB so all cool.

Only down points imo on the 16+ are this;
8 Track sequencer
No swing if you quantize but can easily work around this if you are not retarded
Filters are not resonant unless you have the Waveboy FX disc
If you don't have the SCSI it's kind of ghaaay and also if you don't have the output expansion you will be wishing it kind of did even if the FX are great (which they are!)

If you are running EPS to MIDI in of MPC and MPC MIDI out to EPS make sure you turn the soft-thru off on the MPC

Ha ha, hope it will be the same for me! Even 2 Mb is quite limited I think. The EPS I bought doesn't have SCSI, but it comes with about 100 floppies, I don't know if the waveboys are in it.
