Most likely getting a 3000 this week. I have a few questions

Came across an incredible deal on a 3000 LE....It's missing a few buttons (the bottom right row, rec,stop, etc). Anyway, I'm going to check it out this week, anything I should look for?

Check the SCSI works and check the headphone out for SCSI whine. Check every audio I/O and if you can, every MIDI I/O.

Check every button works - especially transport commands. Check to see if the data slider works. Check the screen brightness.

Check everything.

Make sure the floppy drive loads and saves ok.

ok, is there anyway I can make a floppy that will be read on the 3k? keep in mind I only have a computer with a floppy drive

5 easy steps for testing the drive :

1.Take a blank floppy (or 2) with you.
2.Format it in the 3000.
3.Make a short sample in the 3000. You could even just hit record and make a sample with no sound if there is no source handy.
4.save it
5.load it again

If all that works the drive is fine .

ok..I just grabbed the MPC

It's missing the bottom row of buttons but the tact switches are still there. The only problem is that the screen turns on but no text. I tried messing with the contrast, but still nothing. Dude said it was a short or something.

Oh ya, I paid $300

ok here we go...

She's pretty dirty right now, cleaning her up right now. The only problem is that when i plugged it in (i used the power cord from my 2500) the screen seems to turn on but no text. The red lights by the buttons (rec, etc.) are very dim. Does this thing need a specific power cord? Shouldn't the cord on my 2500 work with this thing, or is there a bigger issue here??


I found 3 of the 5 buttons on mpcstuff that I need. I'm currently looking for the red ones.

i highly suggest opening it up and re-seating all the connectors and cables. unplug and replug them in.. that can do the screen issue. the power cord is fine.. those computer ones are all the same... the power supply is in the machine so...

just check the back of the machine to verify the voltage.

i always wondered how buttons go missing.. okay we know about wear and tear but entirely missing?
