Memory Problem

I'm having problems deleting samples from my MPC1000 when it's connected to my MacBook Pro. Here's whats happening: When I try and delete files off my MPC while it's connected through USB, the files will disappear but the memory available will remain the same. Basically, no matter how many samples I take off my MPC, I'm not getting any more memory back to put new samples on. Anyone had this happen before?

If you're on a Mac, the files won't be deleted right away, but moved to the trash. The trash of the MPC1000 card is on the card itself. So you have to empty the trash to actually get more free space.
