Original Akai CF Card

As a matter of curiosity DaftMarC, what OS does your MPC say it has?

Also does the CF now work when trying to read/write files to it or is it only having problems with OS updates?

When I turn the MPC on it doesn't get pass the OS update screen so I don't know what os it has.

I can see how it all must be quite an unpleasant experience for you so far.

Now that you've got the CF reader fixed, I suppose your next move would be trying the original Akai CF with an OS on it.
If you put out a shout for MPC heads in the Bronx/NY area then someone may be up for giving you a helping hand.
Also, I wonder if you got in touch with Akai support, could they do something.

it dont say he had it replaced just that he bought the part and couldnt find installation video..

I had a similar problem once, My MPC didn't recognize a CF card (also gave me that wrong card-/ or even no card??- shit.. I didn't really bother to look in to it too much, as I wasn't depending on it to work anyway. I have other ways to achieve the same thing I wanted to achieve that way.
How about using the USB port?? Just an idea..

I had the exact same problem as you describe DaftMarC. my MPC wouldnt load OS off any of my other cards and got stuck in exactly same place as you are. I drove across town and borrowed the original akai flash card off a friend, put akai OS on it and it loaded by holding window on boot. I swap OS often and all load off my drive and cards, but when my mpc crashed and got stuck only the original card would work and only the akai os.
I've no idea why only that card works, but it is true, and it will almost definitely solve your problem.
