New midi keyboard

Whadup.
I have a midi keyboard already, a 'garagekey', but it's only usb output.
Now in order to both control a soft synth (i.e. Fruity loops, Reason, Logic) and record the midi data in my MPC 1000, I need one that has midi outs.
Anyone has any suggestions? I don't need much on the keyboard, just the keys, perhaps some pitch shift.

i managed last night to output midi from my Novation sl25mkII to my mpc2500, via edirol usb midi hub, in Ableton. Works wonders! If any1 still haven`t managed this, let me know.

yeah it seems to be the trend (companies omitting the midi output on their controllers except for the more expensive models)

I suggest grabbing an axiom by m-audio or something that had midi output if you are looking for a new controller... or just grab any old keyboard on craigslist on the cheap that has midi out.

I'm with Debauch. Any controller that cost over $150 originally will likely have standard MIDI ports. While you're looking for an Axiom craigslist also check for M-Audio Oxygens/02, old Evolution keyboards, or maybe some of the E-MU X boards.

Konc3pt's suggestion is good too, and cheaper. Just make sure the one you get isn't intended for the USB to only hook to the pc/Mac to give the computer standard MIDI I/O.

last time I was in the market for one... I wound up grabbing an x7000 for 40 bucks and it does the job quite well... as a bonus... when I opened it up to clean inside it... I found no dust at all but instead stumbled on the ram expansion instead. haha.

It will save me money.
btw I do got an interface with midi out n in and all that.

Just to be clear, your DAW will have to be running. The MIDI in and out cables go from the audio interface to the MPC. Your DAW would act like the traffic cop in this scenario, and you'd have Reaper or Live or whatever take the USB MIDI input and send that to MPC over the standard MIDI cable from your interface.

Make sure with the MIDI cables that an OUT goes to an IN and vice versa. A lot of people go IN to IN and OUT to OUT and then don't know why it doesn't work. No foul intended, it's just a really common mistake.

Okay thanks man , well it's all good with the midi in and out since I used it for sync, but is it possible to link the usb midi to midi out in FL studio? or Logic? (since I'm going to buy a macbook pro soon)
If so, how?

No foul meant bro. But many times the answers are super easy to find.

I just got Logic and haven't really dove in, but Logic absolutely will do what you need. It's superior MIDI features are why many have chosen it over Pro Tools. Although PT has seen a lot of improvements in recent years.
