Hi,

Is it possible to trigger multiple instruments in a keyboard such as the Roland Juno GI withe MPC1000?
What I'd like to do is create some sequences on a macbook then drag them into the MPC. I read you should be able to have several tracks (different instruments) on one sequence. I guess that puzzels me a tad too. Take for instance, I create a simple 6-note arppegio (midi file) on the computer, then drag that into the MPC, then press play with the MPC midi-connected to the Juno keyboard on a violin output. That sounds real cool, plays the violin arpeggio, and works well. But, I'd like to have a couple other instruments sounding during the same sequence but playing different patterns, harmony and such. Any advice with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, J.

What you ask is possible if the keyboard or sound module in question is MULTI-TIMBRAL.

I'll try to find a suitable thread to advise you on how to set this up...but in the meanwhile.

Okay, thanks. So Iv'e determined the Juno Gi is multi-timbral. So, that should work. I appreciate the link you gave me, I learned some things about midi there and continued on to learn some more. I'm studying the keyboard side to make sure I have it set-up to properly recieve the midi data. I think I'm close, but still haven't quite made the desired connection. See if I've got it right on the MPC side:

-I have a midi sequence with 2 tracks loaded from the memory card to the RAM of the MPC1000
-Both tracks are set to midi
-Program field is set to off
-Track 1 is routed out of channel 1A
-Track 2 is routed out of channel 2A
-On the Step Edit screen I have inserted a CC 0 with an MSB value for the desired sound bank
-On the Step Edit screen I have inserted a CC 32 with an LSB value for the desired sound bank
-On the Step Edit screen I have inserted a Program Change value for the desired sound bank
-Both tracks I have done the three inserts on, unique values for each track (because I want different sounds from each)

Am I missing something?
Also, when I insert these items into the step edit screen, there is always 1 midi event (first note) at the beginning of the list above my inserts. Is that common?

Thanks, J

Maybe you should concentrate on triggering multiple sounds from your synths first.

Get that poppin' then you can go deeper and bring in program changes.

Put that synth in Multi mode, learn to walk before you run...
