I made this controller as part of an MSc in Computing and am posting here to let you know it is available and, if you feel like trying it out, ask for your feedback (this would really help with my project write up!)
The app itself is available here.

BluPad requires a server which can be downloaded here.
To control Ableton, Reason etc you will need a MIDI loopback driver such as LoopBe1 (Windows). The system is designed for 32/64 bit Windows, although the server itself will run on a Mac (I haven't looked into loopback drivers for Mac yet!). If you want to control an MPC (or other MIDI device) attached to the MIDI OUT of your audio interface, you should be able to do that on both Mac and Windows, just selected the soundcard OUT from the list generated by the server.

I've done some crude latency tests and (depending on your android device/computer/audio setup) you should find the latency comparable with other controllers that communicate MIDI over Wi-Fi (FingerPlay/TouchDAW). It's no work of art, but you should find the connection very reliable (no stuck notes, or dropped notes) and the set-up very easy.
