how to sample while listening to sequence?

i want to play guitar or play a synth over a beat for example.

i think that in jjos there is not the "direct recording" function, so whta's the alternative? 61-64 "audio" tracks or something?

The audio tracks will record an audio sample. So when you press REC+PLAY, it will begin recording. OVERDUB+PLAY will record a sample, but also play back the rest of the sequence. When you press stop, you will be promted to change the sequence to the sample duration (because you probably won't press stop exactly at the end of the sequence), select no, and it will cut the sample to the length of the sequence.

Alternately, if you go into the record screen, you can press the play button to play the sequence, and record manually from there. Then assign the sample to a pad, and trigger the pad at the beginning of the sequence. I prefer this method, it gives you a bit more freedom, like setting another pad to mute the first one. The downside is that if you hit the 32 (?) voice polyphony limit, the sample will cut off.
