Direct access to more than one bank of pads is useful in some situations, particularly live performances and sample heavy productions.

I always thought it would be cool to have a grid of 8 x 8 pads (64 pads instead of 16) I thought having a mega mpc with like.. 8 q-link faders and 8 knobs.. I dont know.. I just think it would be cool to see a product where "compact" and "portable" wasn't a priority. Make that shit a square meter ffs.

ah come on.. that one was close but not quite what I meant.. I was thinking more... proper pads (but done right like on the mpc's with proper sensitivity) and what have you... like.. things are getting smaller and smaller, gear is always getting more cramped in... etc. it's about time we got a behemoth of a machine, dont you agree? haha...

That would be crazy. But imagine the table you'd need.

Maybe companies will start developing velocity sensitive controllers like the APC, Launchpad and Monomes, and you'll get your 64 grid. :)

man I just think it would be great to see companies developping gear where size aint the issue. if the shit takes two coffee tables joined together to fit it... so be it... I aint got a problem needing all 3 seats of the couch to utilize the whole machine

Sounds like a custom project to me, but it is possible I suppose.

What could be easier for a tech head than a oversized midi controller with 64 Akai pads, knobs and sliders?

Get your wallet out, cop a few MPD's and get cracking....
