Just found out about 'Note Repeat' !!

This wont be new to anyone here I doubt but I thought i'd post it anyway for anyone that didnt..

Whilst the sequencer is playing hold down the 'Tap Tempo/Note Repeat' button and then hold down a pad.. The mpc will repeat the note with quantisation like a roll effect.

try adjusting your quantisation value while you hold down note repeat.

also, if you hold note repeat, and then hit 'main screen', it will 'lock' the note repeat and you don't have to hold the button down anymore. hit the note repeat button or main screen again to turn it off.

haha! ive always used SHIFT instead of MAIN SCREEN for this! had no clue NOTE REPEAT+MAIN SCREEN did exactly the same thing! think i might switch to MS since my shift button is pretty worn. even so minuscule seriously learn something new about this machine all the time...

which key turn on hold note repeat? shift or main screen?

i've tried with my 2000 but seems that 'main screen + note repeat' doesn't work
not tried yet the 'shift + repeat' combo

Also, 16 levels allows for cool results when combined with note repeat.. if you use velocity then you can do cool sample fades.. and with the tuning you can do that krunk music snare thing.


one thing I liked about the 2000xl is the ability to use note repeat when the sequencer is not running.. on the classic you must push play for it to work. (same with the 60)

this is another interesting trick
don't know why the other day i wasn't able to lock note repeat
today pressing shift + repeat it works

really? it's been a while on since I was on the xl.. I thought it was possible to do that.. well I may be thinking of the mv or another machine then... my bad.

I do know for sure that note repeat has no effect on the 2000 classic.
