NOTE REPEAT!?? AM I MISSING SOMETHING...

What tha deal?

I had my MPC for like a minute now and still noticed i never use the Note Repeat function..what exactly does it do and how do i use it?....
someone hit me up..

When the mpc is playing, hold the note repeat button down and press a pad. It will add notes according to your quantization settings, ie 32nd notes or 16th notes depending on your settings.

but what would be the use of that? can u give me an example of a song or something where it was used..

well, if you wanted to get lazy and thrown in some 1/8 hats, you could just go to a blank track, start recording, and hold note repeat and the high hat pad. BAM you got hats now.

In the heatmakers video, they lay down hi-hats with it..

its for any "note" that you want to "repeat". besides high hats, you could use it for all kinds of percussion sounds (but i find more creative freedom not using note repeat for percussion)

Personaly, i use not repeat for ambient sounds. I might take a small string stab, and add crazy effects to it (echo, distortion, reverb, maybe some flange or somethin) then i set my quantize to something ill like 1/32. Next ill make a settin on my note variation slider, maybe like filter.

Once i start recording, i can hold note repeat, hold the pad with the sample, and flowers with the slider for some crazy effects.

It's for anything you want to use it for, if you wanted to throw some snare rolls in a track you could use the note repeat function(it makes notes repeat!), any sample you wanted to trigger with a specific timing, think of it as the worlds weakest arpeggiator.

true, but i think it was lampdog that schooled me on the snare rolls, and his advice paid off. He said to assign the snare to 2 pads (vary them slightly) and slow the beat down and freak the roll live.

Yes you could do the roll with note repeat (i used to always do it) but this sounds more real.

Note repeat has many functions, just gotta mess with it

i find it useful for drum and bass production. doin rolls with high hats and snares. if only it wne t higher that 96ppq's

only time i really use that function is live with a band i am in. i play samples and sometimes i am the "conga" player. the note repeat function comes in handy to cool live effects like crazy @ss 1/32(3) drum rolls.
