I just sold my MPC-500

It was just sitting there on the desk looking at me every day saying stuff like "touch me" and "bang me" (well, it did after hitting the bong). So i decided to sell it, and so i did for $418,- . So goodbye MPC500 community, it was a blast. I will be hanging out in the JJOS joint though.

I sold mine too and got a 1000 with JJOS. It's a world of difference. Coming from a computer, the endless menu hopping on the 500 always killed the flow. Plus the buttons on mine reacted badly, so I would have to press the arrows several times.
The MPC1000 with JJ is a killer machine, workflow and feature-wise. And I'm just scratching the surface.

I had one twice, but everytime I regret it after a while. It's not a machine I use much, but in some situations...

Well, the case is of metal but the components are wack. It is made of the cheapest chinese components on the market which is why the buttons tend to fail from time to time. I replaced all of the buttons and the encoder about a year ago (it was a lot of work!) and it made it so much better.

The 500 is not a bad machine, but the menu mayhem makes it almost impossible to love.

I cant believe you sold it for that much. Thats how much I payed 5 years ago.

You got paid! That was a good deal you made. Did you sell it on ebay?

I sold it on the danish hiphop-producer.dk forum. It was in best condition with all the mechanical components (buttons encoder and potentiometers) replaced with new sturdy ones. + a huge samplepack and max ram, original case and gigcase.

I would love to replace all the plastic buttons with those metal spring types. The buttons get loose over time because the plastic is constantly getting bent and comes off like a piece of a model car kit.

If anyone knows how to mod the buttons like a push dial telephone, let me know.

Just get some tactile buttons underneath. The plastic will last for years and is not why the buttons feels loose.
