Sampling music from youtube

How do i go about doing that? I'm buying the mpc2000xl in a couple a weeks. And i just want to be ready and know ahead of time, how to transfer the music from youtube on to the mpc. Any method, help, or advice is welcome.

Best way to know ahead of time is reading the manual before you get the MPC, manual is free download from Akaipro.com website...

But to the point, you should have the correct cables to being able to do this... you need to connect a cable from your PC output to your MPC input...

The audio you sample from YouTube will be of low quality and tainted by youtubes own bizarre compression, I personally wouldn't use it as an audio source.

i agree to an extent. But theres many good and high quality youtube music that sound original. And i found many of them.

most of the time I agree.. however if it's a one of a kind video and there is no other medium the sound exists on then maybe it is possible to work with it.

I have one song I can think of where I took something from youtube because I couldn't find it anywhere else and the sound was a specific piece I needed for the song... however it wasn't a lead piece in the song.. more of a background accent layered with what I already had in the track. It turned out okay for the role the song was made to do, and the song was not a serious piece... just for fun and a good laugh.

Yea, that's the thing there are alot of rare songs i found, that will be almost impossible to find online or even in stores. Thats why i turn to youtube. And many of the quality are not bad.

Does that plug come with the MPC or do i have to buy it seperate?

It makes sense to move this there as things may have changed since 2008.

youtube is great for samples, but the sound quality is awful, you might find that your drums are much clearer, louder and crispier than the sample(s). i suggest sampling your drums frum youtube also, that way it's consistent audio quality. however, i've never tried to sample directly to my 4000;maybe i should try that approach.

If you're just starting out which I imagine you are, I wouldn't even worry about sound quality. You can't expect to make a hetaer straight off the bat and after a while of experimenting you'l discover for yourself what is good sound quality and what is bad. It's the technique you need to focus on

all you need is a cable with 2 big jacks one end and one small jack the other and take it from your headphone slot on your laptop or whatever and into the MPC input

I mean when internet speed was 56k I could agree audio quality was degraded by whole lot but I cant say shit sound bad when Im playin high quality content on youtube

in 2011 sample quality on youtube is good

IMO thats simply a degration of ears. It happen to most of the people because they(we) are now so used to listen to mp3 and shit.

most of the frequencies removed by mp3 compression are not audible I dont doubt that you can precieve the difference on certain pieces of music but the for the frequencies involved in club music (hip hop) the difference is neglible.

you can certainly get a good sound sampling off youtube cos its all 16 bit its not like the audio u hear on the web is 8 bit.

im willing to bet if someone got a track sampled off vinyl then remade the same track but sampled th esong off youtube most peeps would not know the difference, and any differences would be barely noticeable.
