Just wanna say thanks y'all

Hi eveyone,

I discovered this site a couple of days ago and i gotta say that i really learned a lot here. I read many topics each night before i go to sleep and i really enjoy reading you guys. All of you. People give their opinions in here and i respect that. Gives different perspectives.

I do not have an MPC.

I listen to hip hop for 23 years now. I discoverd this site because i seek to emulate this raw dirty old scool sound produced by you guys MPCs and SPs. Like i said, really leard a lot about the different machines in this site.

So i thank all of you guys, i may post a couple of topics through time and i will for sure continue to read you guys.

By the way, english is not my first langage so i do my best.

Hope the fact that i do not own an MPC is not a problem for participating in this forum...

I feel hip hop is a mentality and a sound question more then it is a hardware/software question.

I believe people should express themselves with the gear they have. Always a way of tweaking things.

I used software for years before I had MPC's, and I totally relate to wanting to use similar old school techniques inside the box. I coveted an MPC for so long that I just tried to mimic the techniques and functions (and their effect on the beats; note repeat, pad cut off etc.) in software. I've been using this place as a library for 4 or 5 years, but have only been posting more recently. RootsRenegade, I'm sure you've already noticed the threads here have plenty of info for hardware and software.

MPD26? MPCStuff.com Fat Pads at $45 are totally worth it. If you do your stuff at full level and that doesn't bother you, skip them. But if you want the sensitivity of the pads to work like an MPC, they are a must. (I bring them up too much But they turned my MPD from tolerable to one of my favorite pieces)

not holding everyhting roger linn does in reverance
saying that sampling from youtube or downloading mp3's of records is ok

a) have lots of time to waste.

1. Would only be derogatory.
2. Have both. Different things.
3. Word. A random session guitarist (genius on the side), has had serious repercussions on our lives. I want a Tempest and whatever the hell Linndrum 2 will be.
4. I wouldn't say that directly to anyone. But to each as own. I don't mind a CD wav rip, or a FLAC file, but mp3 sampling, never.

more people need to do this, follow this site prior to picking up their mpc so they dont get flamed for asking novice questions cuz that make them look lazy...with aide of youtube mpc is really no mistery box and is rather dumb proof sampler.,..

Thanks for the tip Metatron. Pad sensitivity is crutial in my beat making process. I'll give'em a try for sure.

what have you learnt in your past few days here mate??????.

I believe curiousity is the first step to creativity. Gotta love curiousity.

I'm that type of guy who likes to stay low profile and analyse everything around him. I only speak when i have to say something. Had to say that, and that said a lot.

My life always been music, kept me on my feet. I learn all by myself, no teachers, no courses and no questions that has aready been asked on the internet. Autodidact to the fullest. Google is my friend and i work hard to find answers to my questions, by myself. Why ? Because in the process of looking for a specific answer, you learn a lot about other things as well. Its a process, not a race.

Never possessed an MPC and i was wondering what gives them their unique sound, what frequency ratio, what effects do they offer. Also, i learn differents way of working with the MPCs. Since i seek to emulate the kind of sound of those machines, i also seek to find my very own sound. So i check you guys technics, opinions, etc. I read what you like about MPCs, what are the limitations, etc. I like to tweak things up, like i said, i love to fallow my own way in life.

I hate the new rap generation and i miss that old school sound and mentality. Thats why i create my own music, music that i like, music that i feel.
