Logic Pro X

I'm only a casual Logic user but it's going to be interesting to see what happens. I hope they don't upset people like they did with FCP X.

No, no, NO!!!! Dammit! here comes Logic X when I barely got used to Logic 8 and then shortly after I got Logic 9 and I'm still learning it.

I recently bought Komplete 7 and 2 months later they're dropping Komplete 8.

Daws only make me realize I should have never left multitrack units behind.

I never ventured down the multitrack route. I went straight from 2 tracking to a cd burner, to working with Cubase and Soundforge. I know what you're saying though.

I was a multi-track man....I love the units and the whole hands on vibe but DAW editing is what kills the multi-track units for me....not to mention VST's.

Me, I get a DAW stick with it for at least 2-3 years.

Of course they want fools to constantly upgrade to newer versions by selling you features you never knew you needed.

Im still on Logic Pro 8 and Reason 4 but the jump to Logix Pro X and Reason 6 will be inevitable once they've been out for 6-12 months.

I'd be happy if Pro X re-introduced the ability to slave to midi clock, I need that.

As my mixing skills improved my DAW preference went out the roof. Lately I have been stepping my mixing game up and that in turn has flowed back to my production. Before I always put one before the other but I can't do without a good DAW unless I was in and actually pro studio running everything into a great board. I guess it took me a good minute to move beyond just tracking straight out the mpc and using my DAW as a multi tracker. It is my prime mixer.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance, is this Logic Pro X as in Roman numerals? i.e Logic 10, next in the series.

Or is the X, some sort of new cut down version?

X as in 10.

If it had dropped 6 months ago I would have given it serious consideration, but I stuck with Cubase instead. Nobody needs 2 DAWs do they?

No you really don't. Although if one of the 2 is Ableton it's seems a little less crazy. I think I'll stick with Logic 9, I mostly run Bootcamp on my Mac anyway (I'm odd )

I don't think I could cope with the extra fan noise of running apps through Bootcamp. It drives me nuts anyway, having switched from a near silent audio pc to a MacBook Pro! I think I need to slap myself though 'cause I'm seriously eyeing up the new thunderbolt cinema display!

I already copped my cinema screen, I love it. And these guys are already plotting future screens with 5000+ lines of resolution. I did slap myself after the purchase.

Does Bootcamp on a MacBook Pro induce more fan noise? I have a Mac Pro, and the fan noise is very minimal on either OS. I use Windows more because I'm just more used to it, and I'm faster overall. Performance is identical on either OS.
I bought the Mac to delve into Logic, and I'm looking at stuff like Numerology too. What little I've used Logic, I've liked.
Anyone know what the new selling points are, or is it typical Apple mystery?

I heard the graphics switching doesn't really work with Bootcamp running on a MBP, so you're left with everything graphically running at full tits! I assume this would result in more fan noise?

I guess the idea of getting the new display is that one day I will get the Mac Pro and already have a sweet screen to use with it. It looks like Apple will stick with Thunderbolt for a while anyway.
