Hi

I have a MPC 5000 which I been travelling with, when I took it out of its flight case last night I found pads 9, 10, 11 & 12 are not functioning (triggering). I’m hoping this could just be a lead that may have come unplugged in transit, but would like to ask advice about removing cover of my lovely MPC with out hurting it.

All advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Well I've had my MPC 5000 a part and checked all the wiring connections which all look good.
The problem I now have is pads 9, 10, 11, & 12 don’t function correctly, if I hit pads I can’t trigger sounds or access any functions with mode button.
But what I have found is that when I use the note repeat button it triggers above pads but only these pads, but also when using note repeat if pads are hit sound is being triggered with note on & off information. I found this out when recording on all banks which again records above pads in banks A, B, C & D. And they all record but note repeat is only on these pads.
I can’t access pad 9 Other function to check pad sincerity.
I have tried installing OS2 again but still have above fault, reset back to factory setting but still same fault.
I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem???
I have emailed Akai but they can only say take it to a dealer, to me this fault looks like software.

Thank you again & hopefully my loved MPC will be back up & running soon. :(

im pretty sure ur beggining to detect the sensors going out. sometimes certain pads will work and sometimes they wont. my 5k now experiences problems with just about all pads with exception of about 4(per each bank) im going to swap out the sensors asap!

What type of pads are you putting on? Are you also using padcorx? I had issues with the pad corx where pads were misfiring or not firing at all. removed them and all is well. I ended up using felt pads from mpcstuff instead. much better and no misfire. sensitivity is great. I would be sure that the pads are properly placed with the notch of the pads in the upper left (or upper right idk) matching the panel so it's aligned correctly. be sure to put everything back correctly and snug (no loose screws) this could cause a problem too. Try to put back the old pads (pardon me if you already done so) see if it works with the original pads

for some reason i thought you were changing the pads. No man i havent had such a problem but it sounds like it got knocked around. I would take it to the authorized repair shop
