Potential for more than 16 drum sample pads on the Akai MPK

Hello i've just joined the forum and had a question that's been bugging me! I'll try my best to explain the problem properly.. I've just learnt how to chop up vocal samples and assign them to drum pads on my Akai MPK Mini using Ableton, so that I can make some glitchy style vocal cuts in some tracks i'm working on.

However, the midi keyboard/pad/modulation controller only has 8 pads with a button to move down down the drum rack in Ableton (so that I can switch to another 8 potential samples, giving me 16 in total)..

Would there be a way to assign the controller so that it will move up or down through more of the Drum Rack in Ableton, potentially giving me 24 or 32 samples? Hope you guys understand this, but please ask if you need anymore information.

Any help would be really appreciated so I can get cracking with these tracks thanks

What button on the MPK mini? It has 2 dedicated bank buttons, is that what you mean? I don't have one, but it looks like the 2 banks would give you 16 pads and 16 different MIDI notes total.

In Ableton Drum Racks you can just use your mouse to move the sample grid up and down. Wherever the sidebar grid is in the Drum Rack's GUI your MIDI controller will trigger those samples. Have the MPK bank 1 pads MIDI notes 36-43, and bank 2 MIDI notes 44-51. Then wherever you put the grid with the mouse, those will be the 16 sounds you can trigger over your 2 banks. (There's a good chance your 2 banks have these MIDI numbers by default)

I get that you want to do this from the controller face, but the MPK is so basic, I can't think of how you'd do that. But using the mouse you'll be able to trigger up to 128 samples, 8 at a time.

i have this problem too, there are only 2 banks and 8 pads in each bank. i can't figure out how to use more than 16 pads unless that's it, that would suck... i dunno???

You guys might want to look at the new iteration of the Korg nanoPAD 2. It has 16 pads, and I have the earlier 12 pad version, and can vouch for the quality and sensitivity of the pads. It has 4 banks, and its editor lets you program up to 3 MIDI notes per pad for playing chords, and then save those templates. They're about $60USD. I'm pretty sure that MPK mini is gonna be limited to 16 notes.
