Synching ASR-10 with MPC4000

Hello all,

for the last few months i've done nothing but read and watch videos of the MPC4000 since i got it. However i would like to still use my ASR-10 as my main sampler. Can somebody please give me a break down on how im suppose to synch These Up together. I can not figure it out for the life of me. I've read some things online about the MPC60 but it doesnt seem to help. If somebody could give me a break down on what i should do with both machines it would be Deeply Appreciated.

maybe i have the wrong idea in general. What i want to do is Sample into my ASR-10 cut up the samples then send it into my MPC4000 and sequence the samples with the drums in there? is that possible? please help if you can Thanks in advance

Use midi and resample into the 4000 right over your beat and save the sample to a pad, then program it. Surely, you've come across 'MIDI' in the last few months of straight research. There's various alternatives too, you could just sample from the asr outs into the mpcs as well. I have the same set up, but I haven't used my ASR yet - I just got it recently. I actually owned one a few years ago and now I forget how to chop on it. But yeah, sample yourself playing over top of your beat, solo that track and resample it to the 4000;assign it to a pad;program it;edit it further if you want. I mean, that's just a few ideas that I might use personally, get familiar and see where your workflow takes you. Read the manual for specifics regarding your midi connection.

But my problem seems to be getting the sounds from the asr-10 onto the mpc i hear my drum sounds on the asr-10 but i dont hear ASR-10 Kits in the mpc.

So what did you figure out?

Heres what I've been doing..

1. Creating a drumloop on my mPC 4k

2. Sampling then chopping into ASR-10. Both are hooked into my mixer, and then go into my Duet.

3. One thing the MPC1000, MPC2500 could do what press the pads and transmit a NOTE ON event, just like a keyboard.

4. The trouble: When you sample into the Asr-10, and you have to send it to a ROOT KEY.. I wanna be able to press my MPC pads and have it transmit the root key.. so I can make my MPC pads designate the chops on the asr-10. Cuz say if i start on C1 and go to the right... meaning, C#, then D, then D# and so on.. it obviously doesn't match the MPC's pads going from 1, 2, to 3, and so on.. Its been a **** to get this part correct.

5. THEN another issue is when I do trigger the asr-10 chops on key, the MPC plays them out of pitch, like slow chopped n screwed style. WTF.. On my 1k/2.5k im able to just press the pad and it triggers the asr-10. What is the 4000 doing thats causing this shit to be such a b*&$h when trying to trigger a simple sound????????????

I swear coming from the 2.5k, the 4k is so much more work. I def love it and am willing to put in the time, but sometimes it seems simple tasks take so f'n long!!!

Agreed this is the same problem i am now having if i go threw the banks i am able to find the sample. but its a **** if i want to play it all together. is there no way to correct this problem so they play in key order?
