MPC4000 8 output expander, Worth getting? how hard is it to install yourself?

you won´t essentially need it, but it´s nice to have it. I mean, it gives you an advantage as far as tracking your beats to daw goes, like when you assign single instruments/samples to individual outputs

yeah i know like i dont need it but i would love to have it. Only thing stoping me at this point is if im able to put it in, and for the price i can almost just buy a used 2000XL that has that outputs

its super easy to install....main thing you have to watch out for when opening the mpc, is not to rip the cable from the display...looks like a paper strip about an inch wide

i´m not sure if it is hard or easy to install the thing, my mpc was already maxed out when I got it. anyway, you can have a look at the service manual, somebody posted it here on the forum not long ago. It explains how it´s done, read

YES. Ask me how I know....the golden pin on my cable got destroyed, and of course no one even manufacturers those cables(at least that I could find after contacting several manufacturers). I ended up sending it in to VST and spending around $200 after shipping and the work. Just keep this in mind, it's not a big deal, really, just do not be careless. Also, I believe it really is worth it if you have a mixer....if not, then there is no point really.

To get the full benefit of the 8 output expansion you need to have either a mixer or an audio interface with at least eight mono inputs.
If you consider the main outs too, make that at least ten mono inputs.
Use the main outs for basic monitoring and the individual outs for tracking.

Yeah..got mine for about 179$...makes all the difference in the world to me. I love to separate my drums on my outboard Mixer.

I'd suggest getting the adat card (if you have an adat input of course). Less mess, cleaner sound and easy to install (as is the 8 out analogue board). When I use the mpc4k audio is taken straight from the adat and into the soundcard (fireface 800). Works very well and can lead to lots of routing options without cables going everywhere.

I just installed one in mine about 2 weeks ago and it was super easy to do.. As long as you know how to use a screwdriver you'll be alright.

i feel like the 8 outs is a waste of money. i'm more intruiged with the adat option. i had the 8 outs for the 2000xl and it was booty. i prefer using the main outs, especially on the 4k.
