Hi - thanks for the great forums with all the rad people and good info - I am a long time lurker who just joined hoping to get a little advice on my broken 2500.

The main out has died on one channel - this affects the entire buss i--- the 1/4" outs on the back and the headphone out both have signal on only 1 side. I am no engineer but this seem like probably a broken solder connection somewhere which I could fix if I could find it. I don't even mind paying for it as much as I worry about shipping my baby and other damage.

Is there someone out there who knows the internals enough to point me in the right direction? Is there maybe someone near me (in SF) who can help in exchange for a 6 pack or some 420 or.....

Thanks

few years back something happened to my 2500 and had no sound coming out...cant remember exactly what it was, possibly blown capacitor or something...around $250 later forat had it fixed.

Im not electronics specialist but I think it's strange both headphone and outs malfunction they're two separate pcbs, hope it's not the main cpu assembly board thats fukt cuz that's most expensive part

main outs pcb

this is good info - if these outputs are 2 separate cards then it seems that the fault will be somewhere before the signal splits off to those 2 different places. this seems to be a step in the right direction of narrowing down where it is - the signal leaves the ram goes thru the mixer and knows its headed for he main outputs - the right channel makes it all the way but somewhere before it goes off to the second board the left channel hits a broken connection and can't go further...
thanks

I wanted to reply to this post because I bought a used MPC and I had the same problem that both the main out left channel and the headphone left channel were dead. When I took it into my repair shop, we tested everything and it turned out the main volume control knob was just funky. Probably just got knocked loose a little.

Anyways, I don't know if this might be your problem as well, but its always worth taking a look at to narrow down the problem.

I wish you the best, everyone deserves both channels. That's why mono is a disease. Lol.

Cheers!
