Just wanted to add my name to the list of people who purchased this product and received topnotch service from Rohan. Really glad I made the investment. The new features are priceless.
First impressions: chopping on the 3000 now is a true true pleasure. Loving compression and timing features as well.

Anybody on the fence, trying to decide whether or not to get it... don't waste another minute pondering, just get it.

i have a 2kxl, so im not really knowledgeable: are you talking about dynamic range compression?

nope. you can reduce the size of a sound file. of course the quality of the sound suffers. if you want a grittier sound that might be a way to get it.

Sound does not suffer that much IMO... it seems a lot better than the compression on the 60. Feels and sounds that way, at least. Even things I sampled in stereo, still sound pretty darn good after compression. This was a key selling point for me because I like to have one beat per floppy... helps me manage what I have a lot better. All about what you put in it in terms of dirt. I loved the 60... if Rohan ever does an OS for that I'll be going back to that beast in a minute...

I owe Rohan. Vailixi for 3000 is a sign of true love towards the machine. I've had 3k for about five months and I gotta say the money I spent on 3k is the best spent money I have ever spent on a single machine til this day. It was 1600$ + Vailixi and a new foil.

Heavy money, still all worth it. You just can't fck with 3k's filter and especially the envelope params. Those are the params imo that show the nature of the machine. I get fat drums by tweaking only the filter's fregquency, resonance, attack, decay and amount. I used to do these same things on 2,5k and a 2k xl and yeah, u get sort of same results. 3k just gives the sound a very smooth but tight low-end.
And the best ting about this superior filter is of course that I already got the drums/bass/samples tweaked to their own places so I don't need to run the sounds through compressors necessarily if everything sounds already tight. With 3k's filter, you can basically "compress" the sounds. Make portions of the sound hit very hard for the time they can be heard. For example the kick: push frequency param all or almost all the way down and make a nice smack in the beginning of the kick by tweaking filters' attack and decay settings. Change the amount to about 30 - I usually end tweaking with the amount setting of 30. By making these different kind of "stabs" or smooth attacks independently for each and every sound that is coming out of the machine, you are basically mixing the beat. U can of course do the same thing on a computer but if you want the warmth of a vintage machine, this is the way. I suggest you all should do this, I think many producers already does. Putting a little work into that machine shouldn't be too difficult or a waste of time. With all the music, in the end, it's all about the sound.

bought my valixi a few moths back just got some one to fix it in this weekend
and i am having a ball finding the new things in there is there anywhere where you can specificallly get to know the fucntions apart from the mansell site...?

Well there are threads scattered around this forum that might help, but I can honestly say I'm not aware of any existing video's or tutorials as there are for JJOS.

Maybe Rohan knows of some?

It's all there on the Mansell Labs site. What else did you need to know?

To be fair on OP, I didn't even read everything Vailixi did before I purchased it. I got it for the compatible partitioning more than anything. Wish I had gotten the Star thing (whatever its called) simply so I could add track names. PITA inputting metadata at the moment.
