I am in the process of building a audio only recording computer. My question is in regards to latency. From what I have read on the issue there will be a bit of latency on pretty much any digital setup I choose if it's hardware like a VS or DPS recorder or PC/Mac based like Protools, Nuendo etc...I would like to know how this will effect recording live overdubs.I have used pretty much all of the stuff I mentioned above but I have never tryed to do live overdubs. In the past it was just tracking the beats in to the recording medium from my MPC and recording my DJ set's.Now I want to be able to record my DJ mixes one track at a time onto my computer and then come over the top(on a seperate track) with another song in perfect time and tempo.Back in the day we used to use this same method on a four-track Fostex with great results. Now I would like to try it on a computer because of the longer recording time(The old Fostex can only do 15 minutes at a time)and of course the editing and plug-in effects that are available. It should work in theory but I don't want to have to sit there and pull all the tracks back into time once they are recorded. If you have any insight please help a brotha out...
