I'm just curious, this being a hip hop production forum
am I the only one that watched it ? Not like I really
needed a lesson on Hip Hop and to know the roots.
I used to D.J. in 1978 and can relate to getting the
electricity from the street lamps or somebody running
5 extensions cords from a 3rd floor window.
I had crazy flash backs and chills, it was like going
back in time. I am curoius as to all of the Hip Hop
producers on this site why do you do what you call
Hip Hop, If you just got into hip hop within
the last ten years or less . I recommend that this show
is viewed. Maybe you can learn a thing or two . I am
forty years old and lived that experience. That is
why I Love and live this thing we call hip hop.
It is and was our culture, a means for Black and Latinos
to have fun and be competitive in all the forms of
Break Dancing, Graffitti, D.Jaying and M.Cing .
If it wasn't for my incarceration in 1982, I believe that
I would've been recognized just like Grandmaster flash
and the rest of them. Having grown up in the South Bronx,
where it was just like it is in Iraq with blocks and blocks
of abandoned buildings. We rose through the rubble and
created Hip Hop. My group or Crew how we used to say
backin the day was D.J Meserati and the Fabulous Five.
M.c's. Terry D , Krazy Kev, Krazy Cris,Poochie Dee,and Al Dee
and R.I.P my man Miles Davis who called himself Mel after Melle Mel
Damn that ish was ill. I recorded all the episodes and me and
my 14 year old son watched it . It was history for him because he
needs to know where and who originated this Multi Million dollar music
we call rap.
Thank god for cameras and the people who documented this
and I am glad that there is proof that, Mr Mathers, Nelly and
all of the rest are not credited with the invention of my lifestyle.
Peace!!I'm out with a certain feeling that there's history to
show my kids and I will be transferring the tapes to dvd and
give a copy to all of the artist that come to my studio.
If you got cable, Vh1 will most likely be re-running the program
and for all you youngin's you can see what yall missed.
I like to give props to D.J's Majic Mike, Vinny Vin, D.j paradise.
And to D.j Mcleod who stole the equipment from the Boom Boom
spot and moved to Florida you sucka!!
Hip Hop Lives through me.
