Im currently using the 2500, not the jj os though...have nothing against it, never used it....

Nor have I ever used JJOS, but judging by the feedback it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Personally I wouldn't be comfortable updating my machines OS so often, JJOS is a work in progress with no end in sight.

Shame there's no third party OS for 4000 and 5000 users, considering they are supposed to be 'flagship' models.

I guess you can't miss what you never had...

If you just bought it how are you an advanced user? Every piece of gear is different. Maybe before you go bashing it, you should Read The.... You know where this is going..... 8)

Pipe down kid, the adults are talking here.

Anyone who does their research will find out that the 5000 can send program and bank changes through the Program Change's MSB setting. So if this is important to you, you might buy it based on this info. However, the way that Akai have implemented bank changes is f-ing useless. As Pledge wrote, while you can change the program setting in real time from the Main Window, you cannot change the bank number without going a menu deeper. And then, that bank change setting only takes place once you start your sequencer.

I disagree with Pledge on one thing. This is not a bug. This was just a **** stupid design decision by Akai, and it makes me wonder if they even have any real users on staff anymore.

i just thought it was a bug because the program changes work perfect in the MPC 2500

i dont get this 'you read all the bad reviews you knew what you were in for' nonsense.

props to you for doing your research AND wanting to form your own opinion. glad you were able to return it.

sometimes reading bad reviews, you think 'oh ill get used to it', but then sometimes you try it and you realise why it got such bad reviews ;].

Still complainiung when you've already been told how to get Aksys working isn't cool.

There's nothing wrong with your 4000.

There's nothing wrong with Aksys.

The problem is you.

Go Fvck yourself.... Don't call me a kid. I'm tired of the 5000 section being trolled on every damn time I hop on the site. I know I'm not the only one who is tired of all the hate & dumb comments made about the 5000.
OP I'm sorry you bought a piece of gear you didn't like. Sh!t Happens, man up & go back to what you like & quit talking sh!t cause it's not the same os as your 2500.... Which also has bugs right? Along with every other mpc model.
