Direct Drive Turntable question: Numark TT200 and others

To go more into the warped record possibility, I'll give you an example. One of my Torq vinyls, it spins REALLY slippery on side-A to the point where the platter spins without the record when I release it. It's way too slippery like I'm spinning tires on ice. If I flip it over, it grips nicely on side-B, but too nice to the point the platter slows down while scratch without the waxpaper. With the waxpaper side-B is amazing; spins smooth enough to keep the platter free while scratching and grips very quickly when releasing.

The D-Styles Table Cloth is just like the Butter Rug joint....practically the same thing. It comes with the waxy paper that goes between the platter and the slipmat. So maybe the motor getting weak.

I dont dj but I wish I never bought the tt200 even for sampling whats worse I paid $200 brand new at gc...rookie mistakes

Don't matter if they are out of production? There are literately millions out there and a crap load of spares to boot.
Used Technic's here are still dirt cheap even though prices for new sets are mentally high.

The Numark is junk and the motor is totally different, the TT-1x or what ever was called on the other hand used better motors that copied the Technics design as the patent ran out.
Also the motor on a 1210 isn't actually directly coupled to the platter like on the TT-200 but the platter is part of the motor

My 1210's are from 1992 and work like new

true
i bought 2 1210 in 2004 (i believe one was built in the 90s and one in the 80s) and they are working fine; no torque issues, no pitch issues, even the needle bulbs are ok
the oldest one got a little humming (almost imperceptible) in the background when the needle is on the record but still a reliable TT.
