So if you are getting one for the sake of the 256mb... now you know

Thats not the case there buddy boy, but you get an A+ for math skills. The AKAI branded card only utilizes 128 meg thats routed to one side of the chip. On any other chip, 256 meg is routed to 2 points of contact, therefore to get 128 with a non-Akai branded chip, it has to be 256. Theres plenty mention of this in this thread, maybe you should read before you give misleading info?

Hello!

Guys I need some opinion about MPC RAM. Official Akai EXM 128 RAM is realy expensive, so I found on ebay reference quality ram, as the buyer says.

I also looked on amazon and found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Princeton-SDRAM-PC133-144PIN-SODIMM/dp/B0027FRUIQ

I've read in the first post that Princeton is the way to go. What about Kingston or other two unofficial RAMs from ebay?

Is any of these worth buying or it's just a waste of money?

Will it work with my MPC or should I buy the original Akai?

I would also like to know if these CF card will work fine?

Thanks for help!

I bought a stick of

AllComponents 256MB CL3 144-Pin SO-DIMM PC 133

and it does NOT work, resulting in a blank screen at startup.

Just a note for anyone who might purchase it.
