That is insane

its not really a big deal...i dont need to run the sumbitch on two computers at once. it usually only happens if i forget to close one.

yeah but checking over the network is going a bit far I think... do you have the ability to disable to means on the second computer of which it checks? I know it isn't a big deal, but that would bother me mainly out of principle. I would have a firewall blocking outbound access.

Cool thanks for the info.

I really want one but I think Im just going through gear lust.

its coo machine, i traded mine for 2500 but I will probably get another down the road

Good trade if you look at the going price on both units but if it's a cool machine why would you trade it?

Why did you let go of it?

not just maschine by itself, the $100 mpc1k on top of maschine...reason I traded is cuz at the time I was feening for mpc real bad...I never chopped samples inside maschine but ableton, only used maschine for sequencing drums...thing comes with some nice drum kits thou...also I was tired of making beats on the computer all the time and wanted to break free from the standard routine.

Trips me out how some of you always change up your gear. I like to stay with the same setup and that's probably the biggest reason I'm scared to purchase the Maschine. I love my custom 2500. I'd like to keep both but financially it's probably best I keep one and sell the other. It would hurt to sell my 2500...

Just make sure you don't sell your 2500 to get Maschine! They coexist quite well if you can afford to keep both.

my setup is almost always consistant, ableton and motif are my main work horses..but I like to spice things up trying out new gear whatnot

yea mayn best advice I can give you dont sell the mpc you will miss it and regret it, machie is only few hundies second hand..

im on my 7th mpc now, im never satisfied but I always end up coming back to mpc no matter what..

Maybe consider stepping up to JJ XL of you're still on 2?

That's exactly what's happening to me. And i can get maschine for $399 from NI since i got a registered Kore copy and can crossgrade to Maschine for 4 bills. I think imma do it fug it.

I think I might get the $399 deal just to have a crispy new controller, and then sell the controller/license I have now to my friend.
You won't be mad at Maschine for that price. :)

Yo Explicit

I bought Maschine about 3 weeks ago. I also had a Mpc 2500 for about 5 years. Maschine is dope, quick access to sounds, it chops far faster/better than the stock Mpc 2500 OS and actually for me it's the fastest way I've ever chopped samples on any device or software...period. The VST support is as awesome as you're probably imagining it to be ...it's like being able to pull up any VST or VSTi right in your 2500....yup, dope stuff. There are a ton of things I like about Maschine but I want to be clear with you about what I think is the most important thing to consider if you plan on buying Maschine- THE WORKFLOW AND MENU LAYOUT IS NOTHING LIKE AN MPC. This isn't necessarily a bad thing...it's just different and like any piece of gear you have to spend time reading the manual and experimenting while reading. If you aren't prepared to do this you may end up discouraged by Maschine. The hardest thing for me to wrap my head around was the way Maschine uses Scenes, Patterns, Groups....honestly, the way these 3 elements work together takes some real getting use to. Again, it's not a bad thing it's just different. I'm starting to get comfortable with Scenes, Patterns and Groups so I'm still a bit slow when composing in Maschine.....once I get it locked in tight (like my man Metatron :P ) I can see my self flying around Maschine without giving it a second thought but these first few weeks have been a mind workout for me. I don't know if other Maschine users feel this way... this is just my 2 cents :D

I would always go with the JJ OS for the MPC 2.5K/1K for chopping speed. No other product on the market can do it faster (as fast..but not faster IMHO). Now you say Maschine can chop faster than the Akai OS for the 2500? How so? Because from me experience, chopping with the Akai OS was pretty instant. Also, to chop in equally sized regions, Maschine only gives you the option of 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc chops where using an MPC you simplay dial in any number you want (2, 3, 7, 18, 31, etc).

I do like the idea of having VST support within a drum Machine. But doesn't Maschine have a limit of 4 VST slots shared by instruments and effects or something along those lines? Your DAW can support VST effects/instruments galore and with an MPC, MV, etc. you can pull up any VST and sequence it just as fast as Maschine.

I have participated in numerous threads regarding Maschine. I even purchased it to see for myself. I am curious to know specifically what you like about it. I know about VST support, and the fact it is not limited by RAM...samples load much faster than hardware. But what else? Because I still find the sampler to be sub par and the sequencer just adequate.

I wasn't referring to auto-chopping. I'd say both Maschine and the 2500 auto chop about the same though I'm not an "auto chop" kind of guy because usually I have to go in and adjust start and end points afterward. Manual chopping in Maschine is the fastest I've come across. I have used the free JJOS on the 2500 and if the paid JJ is anything like the free version it's slower than Maschine. If I remember correctly in JJOS you have to use the cursor to select the slice region, use the data wheel to move to the slice you want, then use the cursor to select the start point, move the data wheel to set it, use the cursor to select the end point and then move the data wheel to set the end point and repeat this process for each slice region. Maschine has two independent knobs that are set for the start and end point which eliminates the need for a cursor. You simply tap the pad then adjust the start and end points using the knobs.....and it's a lot faster....believe me, I've spent ample time chopping samples in the 2500 so I'm speaking from experience here.

Concerning VST's- Maschine has four VST slots per pad. Maschine allows 1 VSTi per pad plus 3 VST effects. If you are not using a VSTi in the first slot you can have up to 4 VST effects per pad. So 1 VSTi per pad at 16 pads with 8 groups would give you a possible 128 VSTi's available per session....Not sure there's a PC out there that could handle 128 VSTi's especially with Maschine's lack of Multi-core support.

While I was expecting Maschine to be larger than it is I really like the size of the unit and the size and feel of the pads. I also like the way the controller works with the software. I don't think Maschine would be as appealing if it was just software...there's something special about the controller/software combination. I'm using Maschine with Komplete 8....and though I'm not fully use to the way Maschine handles all of the Komplete's device presets it's definitely a sweet feature. Maschine also auto routes all it's knobs to the parameters of any non NI VST's. So if I open a compressor all the parameters can be adjusted via Maschines 8 knobs.
