Hello!

I've recently bought MPC 1000. At the moment I'm running AKAI OS. Just upgraded my MPC to 128mb Samsung RAM, that I bought it on ebay. When I power it on, i can see the sign 128MB... Everything works fine, except when I got to TRIM display and hit SLICE option. It pops up a WAIT... sign and takes sometimes a minute or even more that MPC slices the sample to 16 regions. Is this normal on AKAI OS or is it a RAM problem? Sample was 12s long, so this shouldn't be problem.

I've tried to instal JJ OS v3.12 and it slices sample in a second. I'm going to upgrade it to JJ OS v4.99 soon, but just wondering what is wrong, that it takes so much time on AKAI OS, that MPC slices a sample? First thing I can thought off is RAM...

Thanks for any advice guys!

I cant slice it with 16mb, becouse it pops up the sign INSUFFICIENT MEMORY!, I tried to slice a 6s long sample, but it's the same thing.

clear your memory first (but obviously not the file you try to slice). looks like you have auto load enabled which fills your ram with samples you don“t need for your slicing.

Thanks for help! I just cleared the internal memory, disabled autoload function, unplugged the 128mb ram and tried to slice 12s sample with 16mb ram. It still takes about a minute to 2 minutes to do it. Is it something wrong with my mpc?

Edit: tried once again, it took more then 30 seconds. What is the usual time for slicing in Chop Shop?

JJOS.

I almost gave up on the MPC1000 due to the chop shop taking so long. I had a 30 second sample that took almost 7 minutes to slice.

The JJOS makes a big difference. Learn what you need to learn from the Akai os and follow the manual, then ditch that pathetic os forever.
