master an ableton track made in record

i'm probably not helping anybody, but if i knew this before i would have been happier (i'm not english, i don't think these verbs are right sorry).

my ableton's live tracks are shaggy, and everytime i upload something on soundcloud the guy before me has twice the volume i have, and so the guy after. i hate that so much...

i tryed to import the wav file i created with live into reason/record, and i mastered it in there.

Oh, well maybe just try to increase the volume of everything till it reaches just before the reds .. use a limiter if you have to so anything that occasionally shoots up into the reds wont clip the sound.

i really miss something in the mix/master fase, if i've got the track's volumes rapport the way i want and i'm at 0db or -4db on the main volume no matter what limiters/compressor setting i use on the master track my final volume is low and the dinamics are snoozy...

and yet on master tutorials they say i should put the compressor ratio around 1.30.
that kind of ratio actually works fine on the record's bus unit, but on live i have to set that around 4 to start to feel the track is louder...

probably i put way too much inserts and i waste every sound...
now that i tryed to master in record i feel like the song is happier than before...
