yo, so for my bass i pretty much just do 16 levels bass. I got a slew of 1 note bass samples, sometimes if i find a good note off a sample, i use that too. BUt today i just got pissed off. i feel like i need to organize my sounds better or something and sometimes i just find 16 levels cumbersome when trying to find the right notes.
what do you all do? do you have 1 pgm with all your bass sounds in it (or at least the main ones)? or do you load up a new sound every beat? or do you really only use like 1 sub/sine bass? or what?
also, curious as to what you do as far as tuning. do you tune the original pad to the root of the sample? then turn on 16 levels? or do you just turn on 16 levels and just find the notes?
I was thinking of loading up a piano sound with same note so i can use that to find the notes to use in my bassline. i find it extremely difficult to find the correct main notes that go with the sample with a filtered bass note cause i can barely hear it. ya know? in the past i used a keyboard to find the ntoes, but I'm not rockin a keyboard.
any advice, ideas, or info regarding basslines, 16 levels, and that pete rock, dilla, kev brown 16 levels note on basslines would be appreciated.
peace
