i think thats the main point i was trying to get at in so many words.. check the beat in my sig.. i had never made a "reggae" ish song before and that came out decent i think. and it was made on request!!

Definitely a dope track....the more I listen to it the more I appreciate the reggae vibe.

ay man I know you make dope beats...you had to have few beats where you wished you had dope mc ride on top of it...I would hand pick my top5 or 10 beats and have em pick at it...you obiously make music when ya feel inspired to and it's impossible to force yourself to be in certain mood to create certain vibe to convey in your music...stop overthikin shit and have confidence people got in you for even considering you to do this.

thanks man! yea i hear you - my problem is that i've given my beats to so many people for free. sometimes someone will record a track, and then years later hear another rapper over the same beat. so for this i had to make something new. but yess the beat is made, and the track is in the works!! ill keep u all updated

Makes perfect sense to me.
I find whenever I have a plan, or I'm aiming for something particular, that I'm usually not happy with the outcome because it might not be exactley how I intended it to be in th first place.
Eventhough it might have been really dope as it was, though being "far away" from the original goal. I'd find myself trying to force it to get at least close to the plan I had in my head..

Best beats I made (IMO) are the ones I did coming home late at night, still drunk, from a party, and just doing SOmething, I can't even remember the next morning, what I actually did, cuz I prolly didn't even know what the F*** I was doing at the time

I cant make a specific beat for anyone I hate when people know I produce then they tell me to make them a beat like this artist or that one and im like wtf i can prob match the tempo but im not going to dumn my ish down to copying someone else. I love using every resource i have I use to have a fantom 67 i belive loved the realistic instrument sounds it had and i started using reason I got all the sound banks from the biggest keyboards out there motif triton fantom etc. and sold my fantom and bought a 67 key midi. I will record live instruments and mix any sounds that fit or ill make them into a rythm just whatevers in the flow i recently got back to using FL studio 10 when i got NEXUS, SWEET as$plug in.. but Like ^ i make my best music after having a good or bad night when everything from the day just spills out and onto whatever surface im using lol. be it my mpc 100 midi reason fl studio live instruments whatever it is. and i use the mpc mainly for just drums and all my sampling if i do find good samples.

All in all i started with ppl asking to make beats on the spot like so and so and now I have ppl complementing on how im not like so and so and I have my own sound. thats my greatest accomplishment if any. lol

All the time. Its just part of being a producer and using that craft to earn money. I will say that i also play some real instruments too though. And having knowledge about music theory and chord progression. And being able to actually play comes in handy.

If you make something specific for somebody then it's called 'craftmanship'.

It's another aproach and I think also challenging to make something specific you usually don't make.
I've done this a couple of times for a few paid assignments. I also prefer to do my own things, but going through a process like that will also improve you as an artist.

I know what you mean, but the way I made beats was being a rapper wanting beats of famous guys but didnt even know them even if i could afford the beat so I'd just literally emulate their styles... but now i have my own I feel slightly offended when people ask for a certain style... I mean you wouldnt necessarily go to pete rock and say make me a timbaland beat! not saying im pete rock but I want to take myself seriously as a beat maker so I have to set boundaries.... but the best way id find is to just live that type of music for a week or so... make sure all you listen to is that style then eventually you'll hear it how you need to make it... well thats how i'd do it lol.
