Thinking about selling my MPC 2000xl

I have had it since march and just haven't really made time for it, but I have some shit going on. Thinking about selling it and getting an SP 1200, but not sure. I'm in debate...any opinions

That would be a step backwards.The MPC does alot more than the SP will ever do and you can get the same gritty sound out of an MPC.If you sold the MPC you probably would not get enough to buy an SP.Unless your looking to kind of take a loss.

exactly. that thing aint gonna make u hot. its gonna be the same with the sp only harder casue u have issues like sampling time. I would keep the mpc and keep practicing.

...in the early '90s Marco Alpert proposed an SP1600 (to E-MU)... product concepts were drawn up, but ...., ....Marco took the idea and his job to AKAI, launched the hugely successful MPC2000 instead.

I never knew that, so the 2k is based on an SP1600? Which aspects exactly? I always thought the 2k is heavily based on Roger Linn's 3k design.

Thats what I was thinking it would be backwards.......Either way, I kinda was going through a mental mind state when I typed this and was looking for some opinions. After your opinions and my research I have decided to keep with what I wanted and my dream and budget some time with it.........but i have a question anyone know anything on an SP 12? Are they worth even having?

I know there was never a 1600 released. You said it was based on a 1600 proposal. The link does not work, but I'd definately like to be filled in. Let us inquiring minds in on the details bro.

i used to have a 2000xl, and now have a 4000 and an sp1200. to each his ow, but i think you'll be better off with the mpc. more sampling time, and many mor options than the sp1200 has. most def a step back. if anything, get an sp1200 to go with the mpc. better choice.

If you've had the MPC since march and you've not made time for it, getting an SP1200 isn't going to help. It's not going to create more time for you, nor will it make the beats by itself.

You gotta do some WORK with the MPC.

I agree with Retro that the SP and MPC combined is a sweet setup.
