Midi note problem while using the motif

Alright I've been searching and digging in different forums and manuals with no advail. I can sync the 2 no problem, but after seeing what suits me best I ran into a problem. With as much detail as possible here's the setup.

MPC as master sequencer, Midi out and in running into the Motif.
Sync In is turned off, Sync out is turned on (in the mpc)

What I want

to press (record + play/start) on the 4k,
play the keys on the Motif and have the 4k record the MIDI notes so that I can utulize the sequencer and track mutes in the 4k, the ability to play keys and not pads for instrumental sounds, and obviously the 4k trigger the Motif with the recorded midi notes as a sound module

The Problem


While recording on Track 1 in the 4k the sound doubles up because it is getting double triggered, once from me playing the keys on the motif, and twice from the 4k re triggering the notes as they get recorded. Now I can change the part to a program and not midi out while recording, but then i hafta stop and change the part to midi out 1a in order to overdub or record to a new track while being able to hear what I recorded to first track. Is there a way to stop the 4k from triggering like a midi through while recording so the sounds don't double up, or is is something I'm just going to need to deal with?

At the moment it sounds like the Motif is playing its sounds and then a fraction of a second later the MPC plays the sound again via MIDI?

I think you have to set the Motif (and most keyboard synths) to 'local off' that way the keyboard is no longer connected to the internal sound engine. The keyboard itself (just the keys) sends MIDI to the MPC and the MPC sends MIDI to the Motif sound generator section.

Heh heh, already been there mate, only reason I posted that reply was because I spent 24 hours wondering what was wrong with my synth and MPC when they were connected together.

yeah it was the problem, solved in two clicks of a button

You could have turned off the midi signal on the Motif also, you just do that in Pattern mode by pressing F3 or F4 and going to the channel and turning off the internal module track in the motif...You dont have to turn the keyboard thing off...
