A blue mpc4k+ sells on ebay for £1240 with no extras...

Another white model just went for £600 with the 8 out board and a few other extras, in that case what is this all about:

Sometimes cats bid up a listing and then dont pay up, thats a crazy price to pay when there are lots of stock 4000's going for £600/700. Surely it didn't go so high because it was blue??

Bought by a crazed Chelsea fan because he read on here that John Terry uses an MPC. Unfortunately he misread, it's actually John Mayer.

Yeah, I'd say that the seller (some antiques dealer or what have you) got some of his antiques mates to have a bit of a bid on his behalf, I can't imagine anyone paying that sort of money for an unexpanded 4k. That said, the old saying runs true; a fool and his money are easily seperated

2nd: Doesn't the blue model come equipped w/ the 8 out option, fx card, expanded memory as a standard?

I use ebay pretty regulary (unfortunately) so I come across things like this. I thought it to be interesting as there have been other threads discussing current market values of mpc4k's.

No. Just a lame seagate 80gb HDD and the fx board (perhaps memory as well although I'm not sure). All the + point extras can be bought cheaply anyway so unless you really like the colour blue there is little difference. I do remember reading on here that the blue model had an inferior cpu board or something like that.

lol @ scooby, actually, i BET i paid less for my 4000 than EVERYONE on this forum. when it comes to hustling gear, you cannot beat me! matter fact - i just scooped an asr 10 for $100 with a stand about 2 months or so ago, that joint is in MINT condition too.

I often have wondered if I had a choice for two identical 4000s except one was blue, the other white... which one I would pick.

I dont know, I like the blue, but I'm sort of leaning towards the white.
