I just moved from 2000xl to 4000

Just wanted to say I am loving this big clear screen. My screen died almost completely on the xl. I was just guessing by the end. I just found the multiple sample trigger option tonight on the 4k. On my xl I think I could only trigger one other sample with a pad. And a big one, tonight I figured out how to set the fx for different samples, love the fx right there in box.

I visit my local pawn shop at least once every couple of weeks, and I had been seeing this 4k in there for like 2 straight years overpriced (for this area) at $995. When my screen died and I got sick of guessing, I thought of saving for a 5k, but then I just made an offer of $400 for the 4k at the pawn shop, and the guy said he would take $500! So I ended up getting this mp that is in new condition for that price. Crazy. After I detailed everything, looks clean and brand new. One of the faders is toast but that's it. I am still in shock at the deal.

Do you think that you could mix down everything nice and just burn a whole album right off the 4k with the stock cd burner? Just wondering. Do you guys record rap vocals with the mp 4k, I want to try this next, maybe just a mic pre, then record right into the mix.

I'm sure people use the 4000 to record small vocal bits that they might use in their music production but I don't think anyone really uses "the beast" to record entire vocals for songs. That would be a lot more serious work editing them as needed. your better off getting a daw and for that and just using your MPC4000 for everything else production wise....but if you search the forums I'm sure you will find a post or two or three about this subject.

it is technically possible as you can record while your song is playing. Haven't ever used it for vocals though.

tried it tonight. It seems cool for quick vocal lines. I'll try a whole vocal track on there soon.

Recording vocals into the "beast" is no different from using a DAW or HD recorder with a decent front end.

You can record in 16 or 24 bit and track out for extra processing and better FX if need be.

In the box productions are cool, it is a standalone machine after all.

Use the tips and tricks thread plus the newbie bible. Yes you can record but it better to break your vocals down into bars like 8 bars or 16 so that it stays locked with the sequence. Second you will have a better mix with a daw but people do raw remixes using a mpc all the time bouncing down into a 2 track wav. Just don`t expect a polished commercial finish with a sampler/drum machine. A dj edit is ok through.
