mpc4000 gride edit

is there a way to input drums in the grid edit mode live, like in the old Roland gear or is it only possible to cut copy and past.

What happened when you tried it to see if it works?

i was unable to make that happen... therefore i asked the question... was that not clear ?

when i am scrolling through the grid with the jog wheel i am able to delete notes one by one but am unable to add notes in the same fashion.

i have read the manual and tried several different methods but am unable to achieve the desired effect.

i am simply posting hear thinking that one of "you" may have a definitive answer.

The answer is no, you can't enter notes in grid edit mode while the sequencer is running.

But you can step record which is not what you want.

XoX style step sequencing is possible on the 4000 if you know how...

But first, do you have any useful tips to share with us?

I think the closest to the Roland drum machines/gear is when you enter the 4000's Graphic Editor when editing a track. In the main page, select a drum-type track and press the [SEQ EDIT] key to access the Sequence and the grid will pop up. However this is one of the "edit" modes. The grid is not available in "record" mode.

Step recording at 1/16 is the closest/ simplest you'll get to X0X style note entry without too much work, check it out.

Cannot be done with the sequencer running, you manually enter one step onto the grid at a time.
