Reason 6

I was really hoping that the Reason 6 would accept mmc control's from the mpc like every other daw does....thats amateur IMO, I like everything else so far, but damn that would make my life much easier.

I think a combination of Bome's translator and MIDI OX, could get you what you want.

There's plenty of ways I can achieve that, and I thank you for your suggestion, but I don't understand why they don't add it and why Logic took it out, don't see the reason (no pun intended) behind that

I hear you, the Props live in their own world on a lot of things.

I think this is the main reason- They want to keep you in their environment.

How's Reason 6 running on everyone's computers?
Anyone have to make latency adjustments and CPU usage settings higher?
I'm running a dual core 2.66ghz Pentium D 805, so I had to make those adjustments and overclock my processor 10%. I have another Pentium D which is 3.2ghz that I may reinstall if it'll remain stable in this board. Still thinking about taking another HD I have laying around and turning this machine into a Hackintosh, as my brother had done when he originally bought the CPU and motherboard. But I'm up in the air about attempting this, since it seems like a huge undertaking. Aside of that, my system is stable as it is.... just trying to squeeze a little more horse power out of the hardware, as long as the Mac OS remains stable.
Other than that, I'm hoping to upgrade to an i7, since everyone on Propellerheads User Forums have reported very satisfying results in some related topics.

Still waiting for my copy to arrive. But that gave me time to sort out a lot of the technical stuff as mentioned above. I've been taking advantage of using my MPC1000 as a drum pad controller along side of my Axiom 49. I'd love to have an MPD32 but money is tight. So I'm glad I'm able to use the Q-links on the 1k for 2 more mappable MIDI CCs to assign to Kong.
The Echo and Pulveriser are incredible! I haven't got around to Alligator or Neptune yet. But I know I'll have fun with them as well.

Got it the other day...and I love it already. Have always used MPC's, turntables, and live drums to make beats. I'm hoping this will up my skills/knowledge. As to date, I've always used my Macs basically as tape decks, all live takes. Crazy, I realize. Hoping Reason will be easier for me to achieve a consistent workflow than so far Logic has. Using an LPD-8 and Midi keyboard, and after only about an hour I sort of understand why more and more people are becoming software exclusive...Not that I will, but I somewhat get it now. I'm just a gadget dork, old, and set in my ways. But after 4 days, I'm really digging it. Too bad my FW 410 just took a dump on me---Peace everybody.



Oh, and I have a 2500 and 5000 if you were curious.

Excellent...got the 410 working again, but one of the line inputs on the back is jacked and have to use the s/pdif... I dig the Alligator-word.

I just bought a Mac Mini last night and it runs Reason 6 perfectly right out of the box!

So the FW 410 was just too much hassle...Picked up a Roland Quad Capture. So far so good. FINALLY got Reason slaved to my 5000. But I can't figure out how to record its audio when set up like this. Do I HAVE to rewire and rec into a different DAW? I realize MIDI is just data, not audio, but I figured I could open another audio track and route the MPC audio out there...I know its all connected correctly because if I do everything on the MPC without connecting MIDI no problems...everything sounds great. Picked up 6 because of the added recording, and will be bummed if I can't record into it while 5000 and Reason are synced. So easy and convenient to make sequences in MPC this way, so I'm hoping there's a way record the audio back into Reason. Perhaps just an audio routing issue?

p.s. I'm afraid I already know the answer to this, was just hoping with 6 I wouldn't have to use Logic Ex. or Garageband anymore...Peace-

I'm a little confused on your question. Do you want to record a reason instrument while synced to the 5k, that is very possible. there is no need to rewire with reason 6 everything can be accomplished within that daw if desired.

Sorry for the confusion...I was under the impression this could all be done within 6 now . So, this is what I was trying: Slaved Reason to MPC as Master, loaded up Kong, sequenced 8 bar kick, snare, and hats in MPC. Cool. Great. Then tried to record that into Reason. No audio. Quad Capture digi in from MPC digi out. It works when all done externally on MPC with my own samples, but when MIDI'ed up with Reason as sound module...no audio. Was under the impression this is why people rewire into other DAW's, but hoped Reason 6 was all I needed to use. Believe me, if I sound confused myself it's cuz I am. I'm just a lowly drummer/DJ, not an audio engineer...frustrated...just wanna make music-

no worries

1. is the kong track armed to record.
2. is the mpc set up as a midi controller under "edit" "prefences" then click "control services"
3. From the rack view make sure under "adv.midi" your midi channel correspondes with the device you wanna use, in this case the kong.
4. then make sure that number correspondes with the midi channel in the mpc, likely channel 1a.

If I'm missing a step or you have issues, just let me know and I'll try to post a quick tutorial video explaining how it is done.
