Dissapointing Digs...

Anyone have a dissapointing dig story to talk about?? I just experienced one last night...

At least 400 records at a thrift store...not one good record.

I was there for over 2 hours and had a stack that I went through with my portable, so I know there really wasn't anything good...But I know putting in all of that work will pay off one of these days to make up for yesterday...

I like Percy,Ray and Herb...But that's just personal taste.You know what you can use and what you can't.I've never had a bad day diggin' like that cause i just buy stuff then listen to it later.I usually find somethin' worth while.

man i feel ya on the Ray Conniff. I was at The Army the other day and there was mad Ray conniff. on the upside though I found a mint copy of Run-DMC, "Raising Hell", for $1.

I found some fat sh1t on Al Hirt records.

Go to my soundclick page (link in sig), the song "Progress" has a flute loop I took from an Al Hirt record.

Make SURE you keep them records becuase later on when you listen to them, you will pick something out that you didn't from the first time listening. I've been in the same situation as dude...KEEP DIGGIN'

have been out diggin almost every day for a month and haven`t found jack!

I`ll keep on until i find a sample I can use

You'll eventually find something on those records that you buy..everyday you have a different ear with samples..it's crazy though..

I feel you man. You can't even use those records because they are in every thrift store.

...what if everyone has that mentality tho.. like "everybody probably picks that shit up" ...i know im one of them..if i see one more flashdance soundtrack im gonna ****..haha just somethin to think about, maybe we're all missing out on somethin and dont even kno it...but then again someone may prove me to be an **** and post a list from the-breaks.com

I got shitty records in my collection too but sometimes you can't find those sounds anywhere else so I keep them for the long run. Most of my dope stuff comes from common records like those.

Okay i feel you on those joints but it all depends on what your listening for...Im sure we all have the bert kampeforts,Montvannis,and Jack Jones etc... but again its not so much about straight samples its more about the sounds of the Instruments they used and how you chop/manipulate them...We have so many tools at our disposal its all about how you use them!! just think what would those guys have done with the technology we have today??!! thrift shops are cool and you might get lucky from time to time but its always a "crap shoot" chances are somebody beat you to the spot and left what you consider the "WACK" records behind or they slipped some Perry Como in the cover(not that theres anything wrong with Perry as I actually like him) but thats how it is sometimes...

IMO it depends on why he is diggin. His intention probably was to find good records to just listen to. Then 400 shitty records are possible.
But when it comes to sampling...its impossible to find 400 records with no samples on them.
