Trying to get back on the MPC wagon

Fell into a deep depression for months after losing all my samples. Sadly I lost them because I was trying to back them up to my computer and the new drive was bad. That coupled with cut backs at my job and no money in my pocket hurt extra hard. My MPC was my only salvation. Things are better now and I'm just trying to piece stuff back together.

I want to get rid of my Zip drive. I was checking out the stuff they had on mpcstuff's website with the flash drive and also some drives I saw on ebay.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable drive that's dependable and works the way you want it too. I've been searching and searching but the more I find it's like the less I know but I know I can always count on the folks here.

if you can follow the multiple conversations going on in it, there is a sticky thread now.

basically the ones from mpcstuff are fine but you can probably go a bit cheaper if you do a bit more work yourself. seems to be that also the brand of card you use is very important.

also, to simplify things, don't plug yer card into a mac. use windows or linux if at all possible to work with the card once you get it. some people have made it work on mac, but it's a combination of reader + card + os whether it's going to work or not...so i say go with something that works.

also, welcome back. dont let the zip drive / cf reader hold you up...get some floppies and just enjoy it if you have to. ;]
