Forum to discuss all matters relating to the MPC1000 and MPC2500 operating systems created by 'JJ' (all versions).

I added packed program support to the file uploading section. I uploaded one of my instruments. Someone should test it on their MPC to make sure it works.

I'm not sure how people name their files, right now it's set to use hyphens instead of spaces or underscores. If you download "Drum Set", it'd be "Drum-Set.pac".

I'm also not sure how people want to deal with copyright. Should we allow commercial use? Should it require crediting the author?

Someone from Japan has been visiting JJOS.net every day.

Looks good Jamon!
I'm sure that JJ is visiting your site. They visit here all the time, in order to see what people like or what issues need to be addressed. So I'm sure that they see it's making things easier for people. :)

I've always wondered why they didn't participate. If you're visiting a forum about your product, for years, and it's so easy to make an account, why wouldn't you post?

Yeah I wondered the same thing. It may be difficult to participate when the language barrier is harder to overcome between Japanese and English. However, I believe the main reason they don't post here is because they're here to quietly observe without having tons of PMs sent to them. I'm sure they receive more than enough email. So it's easier for them to observe and stay focused. I would do the same as well in those circumstances. But anyway, the good thing is they've been here for years, reading our posts, looking into our suggestions and also surprising us on many occasions with several features added.

The funny thing was when they added Pong. It started as a joke between myself and another forum member who made fake screenshots. We had people believing it so much, that someone actually wrote a blog about it. Then a few days later, JJ surprised us all and actually added the game to the OS. It was funny how it went from a joke we started to the joke being on us. That was funny as hell. I know JJ got a good laugh when he read the responses from me and my friend who started the joke in the first place. JJ's got a good sense of humor.

Pastor-of-Muppets wrote:A wiki might be useful. Although there's loads of good info on this forum, finding it with the search engine can be hard (and most people don't even use the search engine!) The only way to make useful threads stay easily findable is to sticky them, but too many stickies doesn't scale.

A wiki (which could have pages for each release with lists of changes, sections for tips etc.) can be kept relevant and up-to-date, removing irrelevant cruft, reorganise the info, evolving it as desired.

There could even be a section which annotates JJ's manual with clearer explanations for people who find the original translated English pages hard to read.

I don't find using their site difficult at all. Open the manual-page for the version you're rocking and go through all steps (sections) that matter for your productions. When done and comfortable, check out the rest of the features to get new ideas & inspiration. Of course it takes a bit of effort to decypher what they're saying, but combined with watching the pics and doing these things on your mpc at the same time helps a lot.

Yeah I think these guys are correct with doing a wiki instead. What you are doing is the whole purpose of wikipedia--an alternate site for better understanding. I think it is a great idea Jamon but a wiki would be better.

Nym stated this back in 2008: http://mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=94130

I feel you will get more props if start a good wiki and in the wiki put that is was started by you. Your site is OK but a wiki would be a lot better.... IMO

aint me either..... being used to japanese english, jj's site aint too hard to decipher.

its a **** and a half communicating in my weak ass japanese, so i would imagine it would be a real pain in reverse as well.

also if anyones got mixi apparently there's a community on there. so between there and here, i think jj's getting more than enough feedback,.... i cant for the life of me remember my mixi login

That's interesting. I wonder how much of it is a difference in culture. Maybe there's some feelings of potential shame, or desiring anonymity. I'm surprised if you really would do the same. It seems like it'd be tempting to join the conversation, and even if their English is poor, why not practice and learn? Besides, lots of people's English here is poor.

I noticed changes on their site, but I wasn't sure if I was imagining it. I kept thinking, "Didn't the menu used to be lower on the page?". But if you saw it too, then I guess it really happened.

There could be multiple people visiting from Japan, I just noticed one that stood out. But I've also noticed lots from various European places, like France, Denmark, Netherlands. There's lots of diversity. I wouldn't be surprised if the American visitors were a minority.

JJOS.net is a wiki. It's not exactly the familiar wiki software, but if you logged in and edited a page you'd see it's basically the same. You're free to start a page for whatever you want, and others can edit it too. It could be useful for dumping some info from useful threads, like the shortcuts, round robin, voice-controlled macros, etc.

Added support for splash screens. I made one and uploaded it to the files section.

They can be embedded in the pages, and downloaded to be used on the MPC.
